Feock Parish Council's New Website

The Parish of Feock has given itself an enhanced online presence in the form of the new Parish Council website. Previously, the council website was managed by Carrick District Council but with imminent changes as a result of the Unitary Authority in Cornwall, Feock have decided to take the management of their site in hand and approached our design team for a new website.

Using the content of the previous site as a starting point, the web design team here at CNX Web Solutions have created a robust and flexible site where the content can be easily updated and managed by the client. A great deal of the site's content is of an updateable nature (minutes of parish meetings, parish news etc).

The aim of the website is to provide online information about the work of the parish council as well as events, news and history from within the parish itself. The home page provides a brief introduction to the parish with a Google interactive map of the area to show its geographical location within Cornwall.

Contacting Councillors and Staff is made very straightforward with full details of each councillor provided on the councillors and staff page of the website. Each councillor has a photograph, postal and telephone contact details along with their specific role within the organisation. Email addresses are also provided that link directly to the user's email programme allowing email to be prepared at a click of the link.

The Finance pages on the website will contain information about the accounts which will be added very shortly by the client. The aim of Feock Parish Council is to provide full and open access to the key information on the Council’s work and finances allowing the public, and their parishioners in particular, to be fully informed.

Taking this to its fullest extent, the site offers downloadable minutes of the Parish Council Meetings allowing all residents to be fully informed about decisions being taken within their community. This approach offers a good opportunity to bring together the council and their parishioners to encourage participation in the democratic process.

Additional information is included in the Parish Council Services section. This includes information on all parish footpaths and current planning applications. The History of Feock Parish from its early stages as a small but important port through to modern day is recorded in the About Us section of the website whilst the future of the parish is explored in the Parish Plan which sets out key goals for the future.

This website serves to provide a clear and easily accessible connection between the work of an important local organisation and the community it serves. The flexible nature of the site means that it can continually update and adapt to the requirements of the client.
